Crapô - Crapette - Russian Bank
🎯 Game Objective
Be the first player to get rid of all of your cards from Reserve (Crapo), Stock, and Waste Piles.
🛠️ Setup
- Players & Decks: Two players. Each player uses their own standard 52-card deck (no Jokers).
- The Layout: The playing area is shared, creasing a symmetrical setup.
- Reserve Pile (Crapo): Each player deals 12 cards face-down and places the 13th card face-up on top. This pile is on your right (near you).
- Table Piles (Tableau): Each player deals a vertical column of 4 cards face-up above their Reserve Pile. Those form two columns of four cards each.
- Foundation Piles (Center): Leave a wide space between the two columns of Houses. This space will contain the 8 Foundation Piles (Aces), which will be built up during play.
- Stock Pile: The remaining 35 cards of each player’s deck are placed face-down on their left (Opposite of the Reserve Pile).
- Waste Pile: Leave space between your Stock and Reserve Piles for your face-up discarded cards.
🛑 Compulsory Moves & Priorities
A turn consists of making as many legal moves as possible. Moves to the Foundation Piles are mandatory.
1. Foundation Piles (Ascending by Suit):
- Starts with an Ace of any suit in the center space.
- Build up in sequence (Ace, 2, 3, … K) and must be of the same suit (e.g. only ❤️2 can be placed on a ❤️A).
- Priority Rule: Any card that can be played on a Foundation MUST be played before any other move. If playing card creates a new Foundation move, that new move is immediately compulsory.
- Once a card is placed on a Foundation Pile, it can no longer be moved.
2. Table / Tableau (Descending by Alternating Color):
- Build down in sequence (e.g. Jack, 10, 9, …) and must alternate in color (red on black, black on red).
- Move: only the top card of any pile may be moved at a time.
- Filling Empty Spaces: If a table space becomes empty, you must fill it with Reserve/Crapo Pile before utilizing your Stock Pile.
3. Opponent’s Piles (ascending or Descending by Same Suit):
- You may play any of your available cards (from your own Reserve, Stock or Table Piles) to your opponent’s Reserve or Waste Piles.
- The card must be of the same suit and be one rank higher or one rank lower than the card it is covering (e.g. only ♦️K or a ♦️J can be played on a ♦️Q).
4. Waste Pile
- You may not use cards from your own Waste Pile.
- Once you run out of cards from your Stock Pile, you flip your Waste Pile turning it into a refresh Stock Pile. No Shuffling.
➡️ Playing a Turn
The player whose top Reserve card is lowest goes first.
1. Compulsory Moves: The player must immediately play any available cards to the Foundation Piles. Available cards are:
- Top card of your Reserve Pile.
- The top card of each of the 8 Table Piles.
2. Voluntary Moves: After all compulsory Foundation Moves are made, the player can make any of the following moves in any order:
- Move available cards between Table Piles (descending, alternating color)
- Play available cards onto the opponent’s Reserve or Waste Pile (same suit ±1 rank)
3. Play from Stock: Once you have exhausted all other moves, flip the top card from your Stock Pile face-up.
- That card must now be played into any Foundation Pile, Table Pile or your opponent’s piles.
- You cannot chose not to play that card once it is flipped.
4. End of Turn: Your turn ends when you ran out of options and move your Stock card into your own Waste Pile.
🏆 Winning
The first player to empty all their own piles wins.
- Reserve / Crapo Pile is empty
- Stock Pile is empty
- Waste Pile is empty
